Famous at a time when NASA was sending Saturn V rockets blasting off towards the moon, Peter Lorimer was similarly powerful and iconic. In their all white strip Leeds United had a similar look to the Apollo modules, the difference being that Leeds had not spent millions on putting together their project. Undynamic and monosyllabic off the pitch, Lorimer turned into a mythical shot-blasting hero when given the ball inside his opponents’ half. It’s no doubt that he had the hardest shot in football.

(Or was that *really* Alan Hinton?)
